This is a poem about grieving and watching someone you love grieve. Sometimes watching someone go through grief can hurt more than grief itself.
As much as losing you broke me
watching him lose you broke me more
watching his eyes wander
seemingly dull, yet so full
You, you are always here
and sometimes I cannot bear
what your absence has left behind
constantly on his mind
I see you in his silences
I see you in his listening
most of all I see you in his eyes
filled with such longing
Longing for the past,
longing for it to last
for you to remain
always the same
As much as losing you broke me
watching him lose you broke me more
and sometimes I wonder
if we ever will ever recover
